Rafia Bio Rafia was born in Rangoon, Burma and has been living in Southern California since coming to the US. She has been designing jewelry since 1999. She started with one original design which she sold right off herself and to TV Soaps “General Hospital” and “Port Charles”. Shortly thereafter, she made a sample line and showed it to Christie Martin from Nina Segal at Fred Segal’s (Santa Monica), which became the very first store to carry the line. Rafia enjoys being creative and loves designing jewelry. The jewelry is hand made in Los Angeles using semi-precious and precious stones with silver, gold filled, 14k yellow and white gold findings. When customers place an order they should specify which metal they prefer. All Silver and Gold filled prices are the same and 14 karat prices are available upon request. Among the wire wrap jewelry is also a line of personalized jewelry with initials, charms, inspirational phrases and words. The entire collection is timeless, feminine and delicate. In 2003 hair accessories were added to the collection. They are hand dyed colorful silks and yarns which are hand crocheted and sewn into flowers then attached to a clip or a pony. All hair accessories sell at fine salons and high-end boutiques such as Prive (Los Angeles & New York), Jose Eber (Beverly Hills), Ron Robinson (Fred Segal, Melrose), Anthropologie (all stores nationwide), and many more. Rafia’s designs have appeared on various TV sitcoms, soap operas, Grammy's, films and on the runway for Mercedes Benz Fashion week. Rafia Jewelry has a large celebrity base cliental.
